Emory University new scholarship for international students

Greetings and happy New Year from Emory University! I am pleased to inform you that in continuation with our commitment to educating the brightest scholars from around the world, Emory is launching a new scholarship opportunity to a select number of undergraduate international students. As our partners in the field committed to guiding the top global minds, we encourage you to share this exciting opportunity with your students.

As the University launches this international scholarship opportunity we invite your students to submit an application for fall 2013 admission in order to be considered. Our admission committee will review all international applicants in a holistic review process. The committee will consider, but is not limited to, assessing a student’s academic achievement, potential to contribute to a global campus community, and financial need. The selection process will be particularly sensitive to applicants who would otherwise refrain from considering an Emory education due to cost restraints. Further details about this new scholarship opportunity for international students can be found here: http://www.emory.edu/admission/admission/international_students/financial_aid_scholarships.html.

We understand that the announcement of the newly formed Emory International Scholarship comes at a pivotal point in the undergraduate admission application process. International students who have not yet applied to Emory will simply need to submit the Common Application and Emory Supplement under our Regular Decision plan. Though we encourage your students to submit their applications by our Regular Decision deadline of January 15, we are willing to offer an extended deadline of February 1, 2013 to your students who need the additional time. Any of your students who have already applied will be automatically considered for this new scholarship. No additional application forms will be required.

Additionally, we understand that our $50 application fee may inhibit some highly talented students from applying, and we would like to extend the courtesy of a few waiver for students as appropriate. A fee waiver may be sent on behalf of an applicant when their secondary school information is submitted. The student may request a fee waiver directly by sending an email with their full legal name, date of birth, and high school to admission.processing@emory.edu. Please have the student use the phrase “Emory International Scholarship Fee Waiver” as the subject line of their message.

To learn more about our undergraduate student initiatives we encourage you to visit the International Students section of our Admission website. For future application cycles, we anticipate expanding this program to offering need-based financial aid for international applicants, and expect to announce details in the summer. Also, please feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions and I encourage any of your interested students to do the same. It is our hope that the very best young scholars from around the world, independent of financial need, will now consider Emory University a part of their college search.

Best wishes,

Scott Allen
