University of Minnesota Twin Cities新增兩種國際學生獎學金 Facebook

發佈日期:2018/10/25

We are thrilled to announce that we've added two new scholarships for incoming freshman international students for the 2019-2020 academic year: $25,000 Global Excellence Scholarships and #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarships. Global Excellence Scholarships The University of Minnesota is proud to give Global Excellence Scholarships each year to highly-deserving international students who are among the best in their class. We have added a third tier to this scholarship for the 2018-2019 academic year of $25,000 per year, an amount that signifies the University of Minnesota's investment in these extraordinary international students. All new international freshmen and transfer students are automatically considered for this merit-based scholarship. International freshman can receive scholarships of $25,000, $15,000 or $10,000 per year for up to four years, and transfer students may receive $10,000 per year for up to three years when entering the University in the Fall semester. Transfer students entering in Spring semester will be considered for scholarships on a funds-available basis. Awards are competitive and based on academic merit. There is no separate scholarship application required; students are considered based on an overall assessment of their on-time admission application. #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarships The University of Minnesota knows that international students bring new and valuable experiences and perspectives to our campus. That is why we are excited to begin awarding #YouAreWelcomeHere Scholarships to two international students who have a vision for enhancing intercultural understanding. These $15,000 per year renewable scholarships are available to freshmen undergraduate international students of all academic majors and fields of study, and it will be applied to tuition costs. Undergraduate Research Opportunities Scholarships The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Scholarship (UROS) is awarded to high-achieving students with an interest in research. Recipients work on a research project with a faculty mentor and receive a stipend of approximately $1,400. As part of our mission to create opportunities for undergraduate students to collaborate with faculty on original research, all students are eligible to participate in the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) even if they do not receive the scholarship. This September, the Office of Undergraduate Research and the UMN Libraries will offer 3 workshops called "Think Like a Researcher" for students who want to learn more about becoming involved in faculty-sponsored research. International Student & Scholar Services Need-based Awards Various need-based scholarships are available for new international students. Students are required to complete an online application and several short essays for consideration. Applications for need-based scholarships must be completed no later than February 1, 2019. To be eligible for consideration for the need-based scholarships, students must complete their application for admission by the regular deadline (November 1 or January 1 for freshman applicants; transfer admission deadlines vary) and be admitted to the University of Minnesota by March 31.
